1960 Triumph TR3
This museum quality TR3 was dispatched from the factory in early 1960 to the Canadian distributor and sent to the Vancouver dealer (Plimley). It had been factory ordered in white with a white soft-top and blue interior and white wall tires on factory wire wheels (painted, not chrome)—the selling dealer-added radio and antenna. The first owner drove the car for eight years then put the car away in his basement for 38 years. In about 2006, the second owner bought it and brought it over to the island. He commissioned Mike Owens to refurbish the mechanical components(engine, transmission, brakes, tires, suspension, and electrical system. Mike disassembled the car entirely, went through the entire driveline front to back, and rebuilt it. Once that was complete, he proceeded to reassemble the suspension with all new components and added new brakes front and rear.No expense made to make this car drive like a new car. Once the car was back together, it was commissioned to a restoration specialist in Cobble Hill to repaint and restore the car’s bodywork. The interior was in good condition, as were the soft-top, side curtains, seats, door cards, dashboard, instruments and interior bolsters. The carpets were the only thing that required refreshing and replacement. With mileage registering in the 40000+ range when completed, the car was a perfect canvas to start with, and the result was what you see in our gallery of photos. It looks better in person and drives better than any example of a TR3 than you could find. This car now has 48867 original miles and is a very sound collectable investment that comes with pages and pages of receipts and a Triumph Heritage Certificate to admonish its true provenance—offered at $44800CDN, truly below the replacement cost to do over again.
