This 1975 Porsche 911S Targa comes to us from a local collector who is rearranging his garage to make room for a new acquisition. We have been aware of this cars presence here on Vancouver Island since the late 80s when it arrived with its owner that was retiring from a career in Alberta. I acquired this car from him in 1993 and resold it to a local Victoria man who owned it until I believe 2001.
During that time he rebuilt the engine at our facility here in Victoria and upgraded the engine cases with “screw in studs” to add strength and longevity, as well as a complete reseal, new pistons, rings, new valve guides, replaced a few of the exhaust valves and generally cleaned up the heads, new timing chains, etc. New clutch disc and pressure plate all around the 112000-mile mark. The next owner of this car (116000mi) was also a local man who drove it sparingly, added a new set of tires, lowered and aligned the car. As well as a new clutch and pressure plate at about the 148000-mile mark (car was previously at standard ride height) and generally just maintained the car.
In 2006 he sold it to the last owner who proceeded to improve on some corrosion issues that had started on the drivers and passenger’s doors around the striker plates where new plates and the metal areas surrounding them were removed and new metal was welded into place. There was some additional corroded metal removed from around the rocker panels as well. The car was also repainted in the original guards red during this time to improve the cars overall appearance. Once the exterior was refreshed he started improving the interior with new material on the seats as per the original specs mentioned in the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, as well as new door pockets(OEM), fresh carpeting while the dashboard and cap along with the headliner remaining original (Targa top liner is new). All weather seals are in very good and supple condition and pictured in the photo gallery. There has been a regular maintenance once per year since the last owner acquired it (150000mi.) and now is just over the 155000-mile mark.
The car comes with Porsche certificate of Authenticity (pictured in gallery), original owner’s manual, lots of previous receipts for parts and work performed, All the #s match (engine, transmission, chassis). Car is running and driving very well. Transmission is shifting well up and down through the gears (901 trans) and there is no notchiness up or down shifting. This car was originally sold in the US and complies as a US market car (MPH speedo). factory 15” ATS (Cookie Cutter) alloys are wrapped in an older set of Michelin tires installed at 151000 miles and they are still in good condition. The original exhaust system is still present on the car and is in good condition as are the manifolds and heat exchangers. There are two small spots on the car that show a single bubble of corrosion starting that are a couple of years old now. One under the passenger side headlight ring (pictured in the gallery) and a small pimple on the passenger door (also pictured in the gallery). All the floor pans are in good condition with no signs of deterioration (gallery photos) as is the interior of the forward luggage area. At the time of the photo session there were a few factory decals missing in the engine bay. These have now arrived and will be present when the next owner gets this car. The original radio is no longer with the car as it was just an AMFM receiver(Blaupunkt). An updated generic AMFM CD player is what the car is equipped with now. This is a very honest and pure driving survivor that will continue to appreciate as time goes on. Bid with confidence!
